Robert,
Looking at your county in the database, it looks like you may need a scanner capable of receiving the NXDN mode. Your county, as well as Carthage, are using this system. If you want to be able to hear the county, and/or Carthage as well, that cuts down the number of scanner models that would work for you. NXDN is a digital format, and could be either conventional or trunked. Your county system is trunked.

Joplin is on a P25 Phase i system, and your state's MOSWIN is a P25 Phase II capable system, though, for now, the talkgroups in use appear to be all using only Phase I (that's indicated by the D in the Mode column; if any were using Phase II, you would see a T instead of the D).

In your case, every scanner capable of handling NXDN will also monitor P25 Phase I & Phase II, including any systems using the 700MHz band. All also can monitor DMR transmissions as well, though I only see some business, schools, and college using that format in the database.

Here are your choices. Please note that the Uniden scanners, while capable of handling NXDN DMR, require a paid upgrade to do so.

Whistler:
TRX-1 (Handheld) Has keypad.
TRX-2 (Base/Mobile) Has keypad and a detachable head for mobile installations.
The TRX-1 & TRX-2 also have an available free upgrade to enable reception of NXDN systems. DMR is already on these units, no upgrade needed.

Uniden:
Uniden BCD436HP (Handheld)
Uniden BCD536HP (Base/Mobile)
Uniden BCD325P2 (Handheld)
Uniden BCD996P2 (Base Mobile)
Uniden SDS100 (Handheld)
Uniden SDS200 (Base/Mobile)
All can utilize paid upgrades to receive DMR systems, NXDN, or ProVoice.

You may want to have a moderator move your thread to the Missouri state forum. You would be more likely to get comments from someone in or near your area as to how well some of the listed scanners would work for you. To do that, do not create a new thread. Instead, click on the Report in the lower left corner of one of your posts, and request that a moderator move your thread to the state forum.

Isnt a whistler 2040 same as radioshack pro 106?
I think you meant the WS1040, not 2040..

Yes, the WS1040 is, for all intents and purposes, equivalent to the Pro-106 and Pro-651, also the GRE PSR-500. However, none of these models are capable of monitoring a P25 Phase II system, nor can they monitor NXDN systems.
