• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi! Got to get few GE Ericssons P402 = 68 - 88 MHz and looking the way to use it as P405 = 403 - 470 MHz.

Is it possible via using of mysterious ham flash? Are there any way to re-flash / adjust it?
All topics around this radio quite old due to it's age and most of links are dead.
I got serial programming cable scheme and DOS software.

Is it possible?

Thanks!

No way to do that. The hardware in the radio you have is limited to the design band, no way to make it work on another band.

Wow, I didn't even know they came in that bandsplit. But your pics bring back memories of waaaaayyy can when I was a police officer, and one day I found two brand-new, old-stock M-PAs for sale for $200 each. Still in the boxes. I snapped them up and that was when I started my radio-nerd hobby. After the local County radio shop told me that didn't have any of the software or equip to program them, I managed to find everything online eventually and order it all. And then my best friend and I had the best radios in the department.

Nowadays I'm more of a Motorola fanboy, but I still have a few M-PAs, at least one of which I remember hamflashing back in the day.

Anyway, sorry for the irreverent flood of memories. =)

I have a very nice UHF M-PA (minus battery) good working radio
I could just never figure why they routed the speaker through the battery.

Up for grabs if anyone wants it.

Memberries..... I liked the M-PA. Great radio, weighed a short ton, but you knew it was SOLID and it could be used as a hammer if need be.
I replaced a few internal memory batteries on some of them.
Supporting them today would require a dedicated and concentrated effort of radio archaeology.

Incidentally, I found a complete copy of the ancient PST (EDACS 4) DOS software recently. It supports the M-PD and some other pre-Windows era models. Including the S-8xx control heads and Rangr radios. That was my setup back in the day. S850 on a Rangr in the car, M-PD portable. Great memories. But I never was able to get the M-PA vehicular adaptor to work properly with the Rangr UHF VRS I had. Documentation was sparse.
