• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

This morning, at 0810, I heard radio service conducting two tone testing for "Station 199" on their VHF backup dispatch/air to ground frequency of 154.400. They did it twice that I heard. I looked online and don't see a fire station 199 in any listing... is this a new station?

Talked with a buddy with LACoFD. There's no station 199, no planned station 199, stations 195-199 are open so the next station under that matrix would be 195, likely El Segundo if they decide to go county. Likely a radio shop code just for testing.

FS199 was being used by radio shop to test new SCU unit in FS1 near fire HQ. The new SCU is not on the air at this time.
