SDRTrunk Losing audio

I am running the latest version on Win 10 64 bit with Intel i7 4790 @3.60Ghz and 8gb ram. It will produce audio for about 4 hours and then stops. The tg's that I have set to listen and record seem to keep working as I can listen to recorded audio thru trunking recorder. Just stops playing audio for anything set to listen.

Any ideas?

0.5.0 Alpha 6 Memory Issue

I posted in that group 7 days ago and yielded no replies there. I would like to try to "add more memory to the JVM thats the -Xmx option" but have not a clue where you do that.

I looked at the op's window and its has memory errors. My window does not list any memory errors and after running 3 days straight, it is using 1332mb of ram and 9 percent CPU. Mine does list 1 error about RTL2832 tuner type, but then it found the Airspy. The other error is for broadcastify config, which I do not use.

Where might I change this JVM memory setting?

Now go to the sdr-trunk.bat file that you use to start the program, right click and choose edit. Scroll down to the following line:

@rem Add default JVM options here. You can also use JAVA_OPTS and SDR_TRUNK_OPTS to pass JVM options to this script.
set DEFAULT_JVM_OPTS=

Change it to this:

set DEFAULT_JVM_OPTS="-Xmx4096M"

Thanks for replying. I set it as you said at fired it back up right now. Going to let it run and see what she does today. I was looking for errors and I completely missed that it was referencing 1 gb.

So I made the change and am sad to say it still drops audio. Started at 10 30 am and right now there is no audio.
Task man shows 1132mb of ram in use and 19 on the cpu.

So to update on this, I restarted sdrtrunk 5 hours ago and hit mute as my son was doing school. I just hit unmute and its playing audio. So it seems that what ever causes this only presents itself when audio is on. Then it dies after 3 hours.

Left it muted for the last 9 hours and just unmuted and no audio. 1300 on ram and 11 percent cpu. Hope someone finds a solution soon. Thankfully I have Trunking Recorder importing and do not miss anything.

Sorry that you guys are having issues. I love the software. I run the app 24-7 for days to weeks at a time and have not experienced any overall audio loss and only one lockup I can remember. I mute at night, but leave it running because I'm feeding Calls and an audio feed. My computer is an older i7 running 16GB of memory running latest Win10 home, so pretty beefy. I had more issues early on with tracking the control channel and dropping audio on individual traffic calls. That got better when I switched to a powered USB3 hub (I run two rtl-sdr.com dongles) and got my antenna feed sorted out.

This error concerns me a bit. You mentioned you are running an Airspy, which requires larger bandwidth. Maybe you need to switch to a USB3 port??? Just a thought.

I see this same behavior from time-to-time, especially on the left and right audio channels, but doesn't seem to cause any issue.

I am going to try a powered hub but when I lose audio, its just gone. I am not missing it on a call or two, it just stops. Time to search amazon for a hub.

Dave, did you get a powered hub yet?
I am running 3x Nooelec Smart v4 on a non-powered USB 3 hub plugged into a USB 3.1 port on a 16 thread Ryzen w/ 32 gigs of ram and my audio stops after several hours also. I did just now up the ram on the JVM to 4 gigs (with the info in this thread) and the audio does seem clearer now. I'm interested to know if a powered hub helps. I am guessing that the audio stopping prob is a major bug that will be worked out for the next build revision.

I have not got a powered hub yet. Audio still drops after a while but what I did as a band aide was mute Sdrtrunk, and have trunking recorder import everything of interest and play it thru the browser.

What is interesting is I can run Sdrtrunk for a week on mute, and after a week, untick the mute and it plays audio. But if audio is on from the start, I get maybe a day of audio until it quits. Also, when it will not play audio, it still records perfectly fine.

My 3 Nooelec's go up to 2.8 MHz & the last thing I'm gonna do is turn them down. Even if I have to get a powered hub for it to keep up w/ the data, I have my non-powered 3.0 hub plugged into a 3.1 port already.

Audio drivers are NOT even the most remote reason (in the entire universe) why the sound drops out after a few hours on SDRtrunk HAHAHAHAHAH b/c all other audio plays perfectly. I will bet my money that the reason is b/c SDRtrunk is in version 0.6.0 Alpha, which is barely halfway to version 1.
