Earlier today, I exported an ADIF file from my computer QSO logging program (XMLog) to Logbook of the World. A short time later, I was reviewing my log in LoTW and discovered that I had entered the wrong time for one contact (11:43 local time instead of 18:43 UTC). Following the correct procedure, I went back to XMLog, corrected the time, and submitted the new, corrected file to LoTW. The corrected entry with the right time is there--the problem is that the old entry with the wrong time is still there too! I've double-checked and resubmitted the corrected log several more times but the entry with the wrong time just won't go away. I have submitted corrected logs before with no problem; it's almost as though the system has been ignoring my subsequent submissions.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I've sent an e-mail to the help desk in the hope that they might be able to remove it for me manually.

Here's an illustration of my problem, in case my description was indecipherable. I just want that first entry to go away.

LotW does not allow you to delete incorrect entries. The expectation is that you just upload the correct entry.

From the LotW online documentation:

If you submit a QSO with a valid but incorrect callsign, date, time, frequency, band, mode, propagation mode, or satellite, correct the error in your log, and either create an ADIF or Cabrillo file containing a record for the corrected QSO and direct TQSL to digitally sign and submit it to LoTW, or direct your logging application to submit the corrected QSO to LoTW. The previously-submitted erroneous description of your QSO will remain present in LoTW, but is harmless because it won't match the information your QSO partner submits and so will never be confirmed.

Remember, LotW is not a logging system. It is a QSL system and its purpose is to verify that you and your QSO partner upload the same information so it can declare a match.

You should see my log...it's a nightmare...LOL But I am getting better.😊

It's comforting to know that I'm not alone. I think they should be at least a little flexible, though, especially when it comes to erroneous QSOs for which there is no chance of a QSL.

Is what it is I guess, I prefer QRZ's format and ability to edit, however the confirmation rate is poor there, compared to LoTW. So I'll just continue to use both and eQSL as a curiosity to those that log there.

LoTW's "free to use" days are numbered anyway...so who knows what will happen that kicks in.

Steve I make so many mistakes it's stupid. I had a club member on the phone on night for nearly two hours trying to sink my AC logger with LOTW. I made a duplicate certificate and somehow screwed up my station location. I think the moral here is we learn as we go. Your not alone my friend!

You're right. I think I've just about come to terms with it. Thanks for the moral support!

By the way, I passed my General exam today--and my new FT-857D arrived in the mail. I'm getting excited!

I'll throw this out there for the both you if your interested on working WAS among other neat awards......look into joining the OMISS Net Great group of guys, who are good on confirming contacts.

I recently signed up and after participating in just two nets I have already worked 16 States.

Also look up 100 watts and a wire on FB, guys there are good about posting up when they or other stations (Stateside and DX) are calling CQ. Was able to log/confirm Alaska that way a few weeks ago.

Anyway, good luck and happy haming!

I should see my Division Director in a few weeks, so this topic of a fee for LotW will be on my list of things to ask him.

There is no question that the ARRL underestimated the cost of maintaining LotW. The folks who are currently on the LotW development and maintenance committees are still working through a long list of issues that need to be addressed before thinking about future enhancements.

The problem I have with charging non-members to use LotW is that I think it will drive away the DX stations who already question why they should bother with LotW. What benefit would those operators derive from ARRL membership other than helping primarily U.S. hams with their QSLs?
