I have the HP and really like it except the local police are down in the mud. All others are fine. I live about 2 miles from the police tower. Has anyone else have this problem on their systems?

Distance from the tower won't affect the volume level. I would guess that either that agency has their deviation turned way down or that the RRDB has the PD as FM but the agency has switched to NFM. (More likely the latter.)

Is the channel set to NFM in the scanner? If not, it probably should be (all PD and Business VHF and UHF must be NFM by 1/1/2013, so they've probably already made the switch).

Providing specific channel info could help diagnose.

I believe the narrowbanding mandate on the UHF T band channels has been rescinded, since all users are supposed to be moved off that freq range...Mike
