LPD/LSO Backup Center

LPD and LSO channels are being dispatched from the emergency dispatch backup center today. If dispatch sounds a little fuzzy today, that is why.

I am uncertain as to why they are working from the backup center today.

I should have mentioned that LFR is also operating from the backup site.

I always assumed that the backup communications center was located somewhere near 14th and Fair streets in Lincoln. However, on LFR radio I heard them say they were at the backup communications center at LFR station #14.

I guess this is what I get for making an assumption.

Apparently I'm not the only who thinks the backup site sounds bad. There have been many requests from dispatch to officers to repeat what their transmissions, one dispatcher said "I'm sorry, these backup site radios are.... bad."

This always happens when they switch to the backup site. I hope that they get the bugs worked out and things working better, as it should be as seamless as possible. Dispatch doesn't seem to have full access to LFR's tactical channels at the backup site, I don't know about the police side though and what access police dispatchers have.

After 48 hours in the backup dispatch center, dispatchers will move to back to the primary center at 7:00 am this morning.

After 48 hours, channel 1 has gotten very scratchy sounding and rather hard to understand. It will be sweet to have them back in the primary center with better sound.

Lancaster County Dispatch is required to operate out of the Backup Center every so often...I believe it is for 48 hours or so on a quarterly basis. And you're right, the traffic always comes out scratchy. The backup center has a bare minimum of consoles and equipment, it appears.

That time-table sounds about right, every quarter it seems as though I hear them operating from there. I figured it was some sort of transition occurring every so often. Thanks for the info
