Hello, I was listening to the Lutheran Air dispatch frequency 461.700. I heard an unfamiliar helicopter just called Lifeline 2. I was wondering if anybody had any information about that.

Life Line is the name of the helicopters from the IU Health hospital network. The closest IU hospitals to Fort Wayne, I believe, are Blackford county (Hartford City) and Jay county (Portland). In 2019 IU Health bought a large piece of land in southwestern Allen county, with the thought being they may plan on building a new hospital there. Covid became a reality after that purchase, and I haven't heard any further details about that land purchase. IU Health has added several out-patient services in Fort Wayne in past 5 years, then bought that piece of land, then Covid hit. I believe a few top doctors from Lutheran hospital joined IU Health and are spearheading the Fort Wayne operations.

LifeLine has 5 helicopters. LifeLine 1 based in Indy, LifeLine 2 based in New Castle, LifeLine 3 based in Terre Haute, LifeLine 4 based in Columbus, and LifeLine 5 based in Lafayette.

Lutheran Air and Samaritan routinely fly patients to Indy, likewise LifeLine routinely flies to Fort Wayne.

I figured it was a transfer since the dispatcher and the pilot were having a little trouble communicating and since ive never heard Lifeline 2 before. Thanks for filling me in west-pac
