• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

34 - Direct frequency entry on system models

Does 34 - Direct frequency entry on system models mean just that? Is it the same as FPP? If so, does anyone have the cost to add this to an M7100?

Thanks!

Yes it does but it only for a single channel and only available to certain Federal customers.

Exactly. It's really a very limited option.

Compared to the implementation of FPP that Motorola chose for the XTS5000, it's really pretty lame.

The XTS5K's FPP allows you to edit up to 128 channels, I think, and even name them, via FPP.

I'm hoping that M/A-Com will come up with a very much enhanced FPP system in the near future, and that it'll be available for older radios with FPP.

Freq

Is there anyway to tell what freq and stuff a P7100 is by the tag under the battery. The unit has no battery and I have the number off the back which is RU 101 219 v61 Rev D. Is there anyway to tell if its a 800mhz EDACS just from that.

V61? UHF low split, 378-430 MHz scan model. Useless as boobs on a boar.

Avoid it like the black plague itself unless it has a really killer feature package, which can be put into
another radio with a little work. And don't pay much for it! Presume that the radio is WORTHLESS
as a working radio unless you actually have a need for that .gov only bandsplit.

It's worth a little for some parts, though. Front housing, display board, maybe the frame. Knobs, controls, that's about it.

I got the cross reference from here:

FMR - Your source for Factory Reconditioned M/A-Com Radios.

I googled for it. Added macom to the search string and took out a few spaces.

There ARE non-Federal users below 430. Certain areas of the US in proximity to Canada are permitted to use channels from 420-430 MHz as a regular public safety allocation.

Just keep in mind that there's an ebay seller that's often selling this exact type of radio but it has no feature encryption and M/A-Com won't touch them. They're lost cargo that this unclaimed freight/surplus cargo reseller picked up and they've never been through M/A-Com's facility in Lynchburg. They're really good
only for parts unless your'e that rare user that can use a conventional only radio in that band range.
(With no valid feature encryption string, they will operate as a straight conventional radio.)

The point of using encryption, is that somebody not authorized to hear those secure transmissions, will not be able to do so even with a radio with similar encryption/decryption abilities because the probability of you finding the correct key in any practical matter of time is zilch. The fact that you may be attempting to do so anyway, might be a crime where you are at.

Now if you're only asking if Option 14 pertains to I-Calls only(maybe some confusion from the description "DES encrypted calls") or all call types including digital, then it would be the latter.

Here's a more current Features List, right from Harris. Dated September 2010.

Is it possible for a Jaguar 700P with 2meg memory to have all the features flashed to it? Just curious.

K5, yes to your first question. I haven't held a LPE200 in probably 5-6 years, but i'm pretty certain it can be upgraded to provoice too. It is simply a feature string you're editing, so in theory the size of the data wont be changed.
