Glen Carbon trustees voted at their board meeting Tuesday to officially approve an intergovernmental agreement involving the consolidation of police and emergency dispatch services between the villages of Glen Carbon and Maryville
The agreement has been under review for several weeks after first being proposed by Maryville in the interests of reducing costs. It has been endorsed by the Glen Carbon Public Safety Committee and Glen Carbon Police Chief David Bradford.
Enactment of the agreement is subject to approval by the village of Maryville.
Under the agreement, all dispatching services would be handled by Glen Carbon, which would receive payment of $65,000 in the first year. Fees would be re-evaluated annually based upon calls for service, with a 3 percent cap on increases, Bradford said.
