AOR used to be the Standard when it came to Analog scanning. I bought an AOR-8000 and that things was way more advanced that anything of it's time..

Now with the digital age, AOR is nowhere to be found... What happened to this company and why have they not kept up with the market ?

It sad...

I just got an 8000 a week or so ago and I'm very impressed with it. It's a little slow on actual scanning but MAN does it pull in signals.

The 8200's are good, are they not? I've been thinking of picking up one of those someday. But yes AOR doesn't seem to be in any hurry to compete, which is weird because they make some good stuff. Maybe when I'm ready to buy a new scanner they'll have a new one out...

They have come out with something 'new' - the AOR One. Unfortunately due to its coverage it's not being marketed to the public - only to certain markets. The rumor mill says that they will come out with a new DSP based HF receiver next year sometime.

I suspect they are putting more of their resources into the commercial/government market - where there's more money to be had anyway. The hobby market is a very narrow one, and companies need to be where the money is....73s Mike
