Law enforcement officers are searching a wooded area near the Santa Rosa-Okaloosa County line for a man suspected of taking a Crisp County, Ga., deputy’s patrol car.

Lawmen were using helicopters and dogs to search for Smith. Agencies on the scene included sheriff's offices from Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Walton and Escambia counties, the Florida Highway Patrol, the Department of Transportation's State Law Enforcement, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Crestview Police Department, the Florida Wildlife Commission, the Department of Corrections and a top-ranking officer from the Crisp County Sheriff's Office in Georgia.
