Feel like a 'dummy'. It must be from growing-up in the radio crystal age.
I know that Manitou Springs has updated their system and isn't using VHF anymore.
I'm 'totally lost' in the trunking arena. Feel like a dinosaur. Have a Radio Shack PRO-2052.
I would really appreciate some help trying to figure-out their new frequencies, and any additional information that might prove useful! TNX!

Manitou Springs is on the El Paso County Trunked system (digital). You'll need a digital capable scanner to listen to them, such as a Pro-96, Pro-2096, etc. Without one of those, you're outta luck

The database shows Manitou police as 155.535 & fire 155.100. I thought they were part of the statewide digital network, but maybe not yet.

OOPS, I was a little late on my post, and it looks like they are digital now.

Old data, and you are incorrect. No city or county agencies in El Paso County are on the statewide system at this time. The El Paso County system is still 3600 baud, so a BC250D will work, but only for about another year (or less).

Thanks for the response!.
Unfortunately, I guess that I'll soon be looking to buy another scanner (digital!), and keep my present one to monitor VHF - Air (It does a pretty good job at that!).
Thanks so much for the information. It really cleared some things up!
Do you have a scanner recommendation that, hopefully, won't be out-dated after a year or so??. TNX!

I'm using Pro-96's (one on my on-line feed, and one mobile), and am very happy with them. If you buy one, I highly recommend that you download the WIN96 software. Makes programming the Pro-96 very easy.

Which radio tower does MSPD use? I have tried all the frequencies and I can't seem to receive their transmissions.

Manitou Springs Police are the "M" units operating on the El Paso Sheriff TG 4710.

Manitou Springs Fire Dept (1000 units) is dispatched on El Paso Red, TG 4770. Their individual talk group is Man 1, TG 4831, also shared by their neighbor Crystal Park Fire Department (900 units) which is also dispatched on El Paso Red.

They all may also operate on other talk-groups depending on the situation. I monitor them on the Cedar Heights, Ski Summit and Stanley Canyon towers.

155.100 is a simulcast of the El Paso Red Channel Fire/EMS Dispatch, TG 4770.

I was under the impression the "M" units were Monument PD. I think Manitou Springs PD are the "H" units, but I don't monitor El Paso County enough to know that for sure.

As for towers, I'm pretty sure anything State of Colorado DTRS Zone (RFSS) 4 would work.

Spitfire, I do believe you are correct on the "M" designation. I will have to listen more closely to the EPSO traffic.

Since Zone 4 towers are NOT simulcast, one has to figure out who is on which tower in what area of the city of Colorado Springs and El Paso County by trial and error.

Lisreal, check the El Paso, (and others) Wiki pages for a host of useful information.
