Hi,

Everything presumes I will use the Home Patrol style data base to get started. But, I would like to just program my own lists and systems.

The ARC manual just starts with filling in the boxes, but skips setting up the Profile and System to get the hierarchy started. Its easy to add favorites, but I'm missing all the beginning steps.

I've checked out a lot of You Tube videos, but all of them rely on importing info from the home patrol database.

Not sure exactly what you're asking here, but the free Sentinel software for the SDS200 will let you completely ignore the built in database (not program with it or scan it at all) and program your favorites lists from scratch with only what you want in them. And then use Sentinel to setup profiles that will determine how those favorites are used in each profile you choose to create.

Sentinel is also needed for setting up a new or re-formatted SD card with the files and info that the scanner needs for booting up. It's also needed for firmware updates.

Which ARC software are you using? If you had a premium account here in RR, ARC can download the systems your wish. You don't need a premium membership here to use Senteni

If you want a "base" favorite list, I have one for Mesa/Delta/Montrose/Garfield counties based on service types law and fire and Ems (all 3 types for each)

I use a GPS and location control withmy sds200 so I have all COLORADO DTRS sites in the list but the SDS using either zip location or GPS location will "avoid" most of them.

Thanks both of you. I wanted to know how to add conventional and trunked frequencies manually via either Sentinel or ARC-536 without using the database. I know the database is free, but I wanted to know how to do it without using it. Also, thanks donc13 for the file offer, but I have all the DTR stuff taken care of with other radios.

Use the favorites list editor in Sentinel to manually build your favorites lists.
