I was wondering if anyone knows where i can get some kind of region map for the NOR system for OPP...i am just curious how it works because i get 6A, 6B and 1B in thunder bay

Well there's this map. It shows where all the towers are located. It's been available out there for a long time now.

Why not get off your butt and get a real map of Northern Ontario and transfer the data to it. They are all Northern Towns and it is more than clear enough to dechypher, yes it might require that you do a little work, can't have everything handed to you.

For the remainder of time the NOR system will be in use, I can't see the
need for exact site locations, unless someone wants to go to the trouble.
There have been times I've asked for something, then went on to let
somebody else do it....nobody's perfect. General problem with the scanning
hobby is everybody's asking, and very few people are "doing".

I dont really care about the exact location of the sites, i never said that, all i wanted to know is what tower each of the channels on the NOR system list belonged to and a general location of each, i am sorry if i dont do it myself, but i really dont have the time to drive aroudn Northern ontario using my close-call function to figure out what channel each OPP tower is transmitting, i didnt realize that people would get so confused about what i wanted to know.
P.S. I have only been scanning for a under a year and dont have the knowledge to magically figure everything out on my own...i have learned alot but i cant learn information that i myself cannot compile on my own

If you want to make a map for your own purposes it wouldn't be
hard. Use a regular Ontario road map, mark the known frequencies/
channels on small stickers or clear tape, or use a clear plastic overlay.
Some location-specific data is available from old Haruteq books which
are still around (but out of print); or just ask about specific locations
on the various boards (don't expect a flood of info though). There's
a website based around Elliot Lake (can't find its URL) with some info
for that area, and there may be others.
In my opinion, if you're visiting a location, you could find the channels
faster just scanning the range 141-144, than relying on CloseCall or
whatever. Use a scanner that can lock out annoying pagers etc. when
searching.

OPP :
Fleetnet stops in PARRY SOUND.
Sudbury and Espanola do have Control Channels kicking out ...noise but thats all.
A close source , says ' lack of further funding ' prevents the Fleetnet from going any further north than Parry Sound. ( Even Parry Sound will use Nors alot ).
Best map is a mental map...if your north ( west ) of Parry Sound ...your in NORS Country , plain n simple.
A decent search mode of 140 - 144 will haill all towers in your area.

I dont know why everyone keeps referring to location when as i have repeated many times now the location is not what matters to me, all i want to know is what each number stands for 6A, 6B, 7A, and so on, i will just live without knowing i guess....i'll figure it out next year when i am back up here

I believe I had submitted the input frequencies for the old NOR sytem Repeaters to the database a while back, but again, it hasn't been put into the database. Don't know why, because those frequencies are still needed to listen to the NOR system effectively.
Regardless if it's eventually going to Fleetnet, for the time being I think they should be incuded as well.
Remember, there are people here, not living in a Fleetnet zone.
