Rich Carlson N9JIG and I met for breakfast in Gila Bend this morning, and then did on transmitter hunting.

We verified that the Ajo (Childs Peak) site is NOT currently online. Rich also verified on his way home that Tonopaha and Harquahala Mountain are NOT online yet either. Add these freqs to your radios if you are in these areas, and let us know when they come online.

We also discovered a new site 139 is online. This is the "Gila Bend Simulcast" which is a two transmitter simulcast with transmitters at Goldwater AFB just south of Gila Bend, and about 8 miles east of Gila Bend on Maricopa Rd (Hwy 238).

Rich also helped make some updates on his way in for sites 116 and 119. The DB has been updated with these changes discovered during today's monitoring.

Thanks for all your help today Rich!

Rich also to the long road home, and verified that the Wickenburg / Morristown transmitters are NOT online yet either. Add these freqs to your radio if you are by Wickenburg and let us know when these come online.

So here is the rest of the story:

On the way to Gila Bend from my house in the far NW valley I stopped by the Lewis Prison area and monitored the site there. I then headed into Gila Bend and watched trains for a while (160.320 UPRR Road...) before meeting Joe at a restaurant for breakfast.

We did some comparison of notes there as well as some monitoring, finding the new Site 139 and then headed south on Hwy 85 towards Ajo. We went to the Childs Mountain area, just north of Ajo and verified a bunch of stuff there. We then headed back to Gila Bend.

Joe then went east and verified the site east of there, on the way towards Maricopa. I headed back to I-10 and then headed west to Tonopah to see if that site was active (it was not). I then headed toward Salome to see if Harquahala was active (again, it was not). After that it was Wickenburg and Morristown, these sites also were not active.

I did about 350 miles, I figure Joe did at least 150, all in the name of updating the RadioReference database.

I wonder if this is tax deductible?

That's 500 miles between you two. My Hemi gets about 10 mpg, so that would come to about $150 for me. I'm in the vicinity of I-17 and Greenway. If you plan on passing by that area some day, give me a call at 602-550-2692. I don't answer unidentified calls. If I recognize your caller ID, I will give you instructions for a one mile side trip to my house. I have a fifty dollar bill to contribute to your gas fund.

I'm hoping that at least the dispatch and special event talkgroups stay in the clear. But unless someone has inside knowledge, we won't know for sure until they go live, or at least until the system is built out much more and multitudes of talkgroups are being tested.

Go Live Timing?

Hi AZ friends! Any thoughts as to the timing of MCSO going live on their new P25 system?

My wife's BFF in Scottsdale is visiting here in IL this coming weekend so I thought I'd program the new system into her WS-1088. Doesn't look like much to hear though with just testing TGs at this point. Of course I'll add a TG Wildcard.

Thanks for any insight!
