• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I want to reach out to other scanners from Marion County to try to compile a full list of the police unit identifiers.

So far, I know:

A - Alpha is Marion County Sheriffs
C - Charlie is Silverton Police
S - Sierra is Salem Police
Z - Zulu is Mt. Angel

Does anyone know any of the other county agencies?

Since Polk County is dispatched by Willamette Valley Comms in Salem, I just wanted to add that:

P - Papa is Polk County Sheriffs
D - Delta is Dallas Police
M - Mike is Monmouth Police
I - India is Independence Police

- Because sometimes the dispatchers get confused and call units on the wrong channels. So if you're listening to Marion County and you hear a random alpha letter like that...

But one more to add to Marion County:

K - Kilo, which is Keizer Police, who use the 800MHz system.
