License modification by FCC is pending.

Showing 158.7900 Output, 153.9050 Input

Note: it's about time my hometown county switched to P25.
Credit the government officials there by NOT going to something crazy like NEXEDGE or MOTOTRBO.

Re: Marshall County P-25 (Fire Channels)

Looks like Harvey Brewers "might" be P-25 on 155.4975 Mhz. Unsure.

All other "new" frequencies for the county fire departments are just narrow band FM.

Cannot believe they are licensing these frequencies.

158.790 is the output of the Fulton Police Department's repeater as well and that is only 40 miles away! On VHF this is going to be a nightmare.

153.905 is the input to the Kuttawa Fire Department's repeater that is only 15 miles away!

I do not see how this will not be a interference problem.

There is nothing crazy about other technologies besides P25. Actually, they are new technologies that have better audio and coverage performance over P25. Also, they can be purchased at about 1/2 the cost of P25. That sounds like a good fiscal choice of spend our tax dollars.

the last few updates i seen for Kenutcky have almost all been p25 freqs that got me to wondering if the state mandated that? just a wild guess

with all of the negehbering states going p25 ...some counties are taking the high road and going p25 which is good to see.

State isnt making us buy P25 only thing we have to do is go to narrow band.. however some repeaters are older and not able to do this.. There is a nice grant out there for the P25 upgrade and they are taking advantage of this. I know the marshall P25s are all off grants.

I was told that the state will only give grants for systems that are P25 or analog only. The radios can have no other digital capability other than P25. So, they are kinda forcing P25.

wow thats crazy.. so the ones with nexedge might have to switch over?

i very much understood and approve the state pushing p25 bc every state bordering KY ( my state (TN) is too!) is going p25.

Does not mean people will have to change. It just means that if you want Homeland Security grant money from the state, you cannot use it to buy NEXEDGE equipment. I was told there is a grandfather clause for people that already had a system started (like Hopkinsville) and they can still get money to improve their system.

Does it mean like Hopkins county even tho on the database it has NEXEDGE which they have not gone over to yet can still go with P25? Cause far as i know the upgrade has not even started.

I do not think so. I was told that they "started" their NEXEDGE system prior to the cutoff date. So, they should be grandfathered in now and can still get grant money for the system.

I think this is a great ideal. The other day the KSP London post had problems trying to get a hold of Corbin PD by landline it was down. Ksp dispatch said switch over and yell at corbin dispatch for me and Ksp troopers responded by saying that they couldn't now because they were digital NEXEDGE. They are UHF now just Nexedge instead of P-25 I mean if things got really bad and they needed to talk to each other then I think it would a **** out of luck type deal. Also barbourville PD tried to reach Harlan KSP post during the floods on 453.300 to no response from Harlan KSP post.
