Restriction "J" John is an Alcohol Restriction. All the codes you got here are it. The restictions you can get at the MVA / DMV
"N" Nora Narcodics "G" George Gun Hope this helps. If you hear a person is MO Mentally Off.. If I come across my old reference stuff from when I was in St. Mary's, I'll E-mail it to you.

lol...

it's Mental Observation.......not mentally off, hehe

B is restrictive lenses...... J is alcohol restriction, such as an interlock used to start the car....

I have a list a mile long floating around somewhere, I'll have to see if I can find it....

an ex co-worker had a BJ restriction on his license, lol, B for corrective lenses (glasses/contacts) and J because he had an interlock on his car because he DUI/DWI a few too many times..... he was over 21....

if you look on the back of the license, it tells you whatever restriction is on your license, and what it means....

Having a J-John restriction does not necessarily mean that it is because of a history of abuse or conviction or an ignition interlock device. All persons issued Driver Licenses or Photo IDs who are under the age of 21 are given a J-John restriction.

It should say on the FRONT of a license why the J-John restriction is in place, for example:

J-under 21 alcohol prohibited

From the MVA Website...

Restriction Codes

B Corrective Lenses
C Special brakes, hand controls or other (see restriction card)
D Prosthetic Aid
E Automatic Transmission
F Outside Mirror
G Limited to Daylight Only
H Limited (see restriction card)
I Limited (see restriction card)
J Other (see restriction card)
K CDL Intrastate Only
L Vehicles without Airbrakes
M Except Class A Bus
N Except Class A & B Bus
O Except Tractor Trailer
Z Organ Donor, Hearing/Speech Impaired

So, J is actually a catch-all code. Like I said above, it should state in the FRONT of the license what the J restriction pertains to.

I agree on interlock, what I said it's not always that because now UNDER 21 have it from the get go till they are 21. But your right over 21 has the interlock. Not saying you were wrong, just adding to it, thanks for the list.
