• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I guess I don't know enough yet, but I program the bcd996xt for zone 5 and I'm getting atleast 10 other TGID's that come up that I don't want to hear. They all show on the Freescan log only but I have no idea how to eliminate them. I thought about eliminating thier freq but some in zone 5 share these. Any ideas?

Several ways............You could lock out each talkgroup you don't want to hear. You could delete each talk group you don't want to hear and set your scanner for ID Scan not ID search.

You can't lock out those talk groups, they don't show up except on the log. I hear the stations fine and only see then on the scanner and the log, they are not in my folder.

Yes, ID SCAN. If it's in ID SEARCH it will scan ALL talk groups that affiliate with the zone you are scanning. ID SCAN mode only scans the talk groups you have programmed.

Change it to ID scan but now it doesn't scan anything under that. At least I don't see it scanning on the display.
