Total novice here trying to get the State Police trunking info for my Pro 97. Have no idea where or how to get this info or even how to program it when I do get it.

Help anyone...

Can't help you with the programming as I don't have any RS scanners. However, there are two web resources that can help.

Eastern MA Trunking, http://users.adelphia.net/~kc1ho/ematrunk/

Scan Cape Cod www.scancapecod.us. Don't let the name fool you, it's a great resource for all of MA and much of New England.

In general I'd suggest you get programming software. I think Don Starr sells a version for that scanner. Check the software forum here.

Thanks for the response. I went to these already. I guess I am so much of a novice that I don't even know what I am looking at when I see it. Will have to get some software, maybe that will help me.

thanks again

Take a look at the link http://myweb.cableone.net/marksscanners/97/97.html and see if it helps you out with programing.

Usiing the MA specific sites referenced earlier, you can just program in the Control Channels (designated CC) and get you off and running right away. Once you start hearing the various talk groups, you can start adding in their definitions.

The trunking is not difficult once you get the concepts understood.

Download Win 97 from www.starrsoft.com. Purchase/register it, it's worth the $$$. Until then, program in the control channels for the specific zone you are attempting to monitor, set the bank to MO, I believe, and scan in OPEN mode for now to see if you are picking up radio traffic. Try these steps to see if you can at least get it scanning properly, then we can help you with the software/fine tuning of how you want it set up.

Check the RR Database, and program in the Red Frequencies, put all these in MOTOROLA Mode, and when you come across an active Control Channel, it will make a loud rumbling sound, you will now it, its pretty easy once you figure it out
