Is McDowell county utilizing Viper at all or is everything still VHF? I know they have Viper TG's available but are they used?

It's been a while but VIPER was used for backup and special operations. Things may have changed though and it is always possible that some comms may be patched into VIPER from their conventional repeaters. A number of counties seem to be going that way.

Well, forget that :) Looks like there is a live feed for McDowell that is VIPER only, so it looks like they have/are moving to VIPER. Hopefully someone that has more current info than myself can chime in.

I know from last year during the fire school.

McDowell Ems was using Viper for hospital encodes to McDowell Hospital

McDowell Sheriff was using Viper for communications.

I will be back in March hopefully I will be able to gather more info.

As of this past weekend:

Fire: VHF, Viper only used for large events or training
EMS/Rescue: VHF, Viper for hospital encodes & out of county transports (McDowell mutual aid)
Sheriff: VHF & Viper (looks like there is a patch)
Marion PD: Viper

There are a few Law TGs that aren't in the database that I'm still trying to identify.
