Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Is there a way to implement access control on a GR1225 repeater using MDC-1200? Would you use the AdvantagePort board socket or could it be 'assigned' through the RSS software?

I'm not 100% on the GR1225, but I do know that other similar /\/\ radios could be configured to do this. If the radio has an external alarm feature that can be accessed through the accessory port, then it's likely that the MDC can trigger the alarm. The alarm is just a transistor gate which could be used to do all sorts of things like turn on lights, open an electric gate, etc.

I do know for sure that the old GM300 had that capability and the CDM1250 and 1550 Waris mobiles do as well.

Steve,

Thank you for your advice. I was planning on using the MDC-1200 signaling as a (more elaborate) form of tone squelch to keep most of the morons off of my repeater here in Las Vegas. I figured with this type of signaling most of them will not have the ability to kerchunk, or transmit without permission. Thank you again for your suggestion . . . .

Oooohhh you would be mistaken about that!
The children will get their hands on a MDC capable radio and continue to kerchunk endlessly on your repeater. In fact they often do it rapid fire kerchunking once they have the MDC because they get some kind of satisfaction out of doing that.

We had a couple bad offenders here that really got off on using signalling unnecessarily and without IDing and kerchunk constantly.
Then we migrated to digital and then they got digital radios.

I don't know if the Motorola GR1225 can do what you ask.

Cimarron Technologies C Plus has “Authorize”, it permits the C Plus to be used to allow only
authorized users access to repeater systems.

@Squad10,

I have done business with them recently on a ANI related project. I'll hit tech support up on Monday
and see what my options are with them and that board. If it is MOOIS v.1 or v.2 compatible, I am
pretty sure it will be 'Plug and Play' through the /\/\oto RSS.

Thanks again for the suggestion Squad10!
