• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Before anyone tells me to use the search function, I have... a lot....I have what I hope to be a simple question. I'm tired of hearing the MDC burst on my radio and want to mute it just to hear the chirp. (RX only) I've tried messing around with the DOS function but have had no luck. Every time I think I get it down, I don't. Any help is appreciated, thank you so much!

actually i have the same question... my motorola ht1250 USED to mute mdc-1200 all the time until recently when my city/county must have upgraded to the xts series radios. because the pl tone of 127.3 has a rather loud hummm in the background from the repeater but now you barely hear the hummmm at all and only like 5% of the time the mdc's get muted. its kinda frustrating because i love the dos mute option... my only answer for you is to go to the DOS tab under mdc and set the dos criteria type to "1200Hz OR 1800Hz"... if you set it to "1200Hz AND 1800Hz", theres an excellent chance you wont get it muted becuz it needs to know whats its going to do before it does it. otherwise i have mine all set to 0 om timers and everything i can think of... and DOS auto mute duration to 25, which i believe is the minimum setting... if its disabled it wont work... but like me, you might want to know what series of radios your city/county is using because here in grand island, ne... the HT series portables are not used anymore but in neighboring communities where they still use HT radios... it works... also, my cdm1250 mobile radio still mutes away like nothins changed... hope this helps ya!
