I was wondering what the med channels 42, 82, 102 etc are. I live in Waterbury and have been hearing a lot of activity on these freq's. Like normally Midstate hospital would be assigned another med channel but I hear them on one of the other ones. Just curious if someone could shed some light on this!!!

So I am guessing that are going from 25 khz to 12.5 khz. Some hospitals here use the normal med channels like our local hospital is Waterbury they use med 6. But some hospitals on the other side of the state are using med channels like I indicated above ending in 2's. So I guess do to narrowbanding they will all be switching at some point. Thanks for the link.

All of the CMED centers have the ability to use any of the original (10) 25 KHz step MED channels and now they have the additional (10) 12.5 KHz channels. Some CMEDs have them in service, some do not. Every ambulance in the state is required to have all 20 CMED channels for each center in their radios. Some do, some don't.
I don't know how all the CMEDs assign channels but at one time in North Central, it was assigned by your location. I suspect they did not have all the channels at all the remote sites. I think they had it set for Med 5 & 8 if you were North or West of Hartford and 3 & 7 for South or East.
It really is a waste of resources to have 4 coordination and 16 patch channels set up in an area that serves only one or two hospitals.

Northwest Public Safety - Northwest CMED - uses these newer med channels to patch ambulances and hospitals gained when South Central CMED (New Haven) went out of business. Meds 102 and 82 are located in Meriden; Med 42 is in the Naugatuck Valley, designed to serve Griffin Hospital and coordinate units and the Valley medic service.
For anyone listening on a scanner, Meds 9 (Watertown), Med 10 (Danbury), Med 1 (Southbury) and Med 102 (Meriden) are all cross-patched together, so all their transmissions come over all the channels at the same time.

That is still the current template for EMS in CT. In the last couple weeks I have come to find out that there is confusion about the "Regional TAC Channels" PL tones. The "Interoperability Channels" zone could use all the UTAC channels but other than that, it is all still valid.

Only being a Tourist to CT, I thought Reading with the CMED Consolidations that occured, some tones changed, which should have brought out a new Template, guess Not.

Thanks

The channels are still the same, what has changed is who you call to get to a specific hospital in the old South Central CMED region.

CT OEMS has failed to properly disseminate that information to all agencies in the state. If it is so necessary for every service to have all 20 Med channels for each of the 5 CMED regions and have a dedicated talkaround channel for each of those 100 channels, then it is necessary for them to keep every agency updated.

Keep in mind that that was a DEMHS generated document. I guess we should be happy they didn't force additional specifications that would have driven up the prices by a factor of 10. I am thinking P-25 Dual band UHF/700 MHz secure capable Dual head APX radios. It cost close to $15,000 to update 5 vehicles to meet this standard.
