• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

It may be a drug task force, which used to have TGs on MARCS 3.5. Have you noticed them later afternoon and evening?

Could the Medina County SO have switched to MARCS and be using full time encryption? Those look like what would be their unit ids and alphabetically the talk groups look about right.
Medina County SO is on their own Harris system which shares a zone controller with Parma and Ottawa County. They are also streaming audio from that system over their old UHF channels. Only a few of those radio ID's actually match unit ID's belonging to deputies. The SO has no tier partnership with MARCS.

I would say these are more likely to belong to the drug task force. They do a lot of their operations during the afternoon hours. I have been searching for channels that belong to them for a few years now. Next time I am in the area of one of their busts I will try and see what type of radios they are using.
