Mesa FD RDC now dispatching Fountain Hills and Ft. McDowell FD's.

For those not aware, as of yesterday, the Mesa FD RDC is now dispatching Fountain Hills and Ft McDowell FD's.

Rural-Metro stations 822 and 823 are now Fountain Hills stations 451 and 452. (Fountain Hills already owned the stations, the apparatus, and equipment. Rural-Metro provided staffing and dispatch.)

Ft. McDowell FD was previously dispatched by Ft. McDowell PD.

The contract that Fountain Hills has with Rural-Metro officially ends at the end of the day on 12/31/2023.

I've been hearing unit "LA415" dispatched by Mesa FD. What would the "LA" designate? Station 415 would appear to be in Queen Creek.

LA is Light Acuity. It's a 2 person (EMT & Paramedic) unit that responds to minor medical calls, helping to free up the 4 person ALS units (E, L, HR/SQ, MR) for more serious EMS & fire calls. Peoria has one or two.
