Hey all,

The blimp is here for the Memorial Tourney this weekend. Anyone hear anything on any particular frequency?

Thanks,

JD

You might try the tower frequency for Don Scott field, A.K.A The Ohio State University Airport. Since Dublin is so close to that particular airfield, chances are they are in contact with the control tower. The frequency is 118.80 MHz.

In chatting to the Videographer, they only have VHF AM, unless the specific Contract Company requires equipment on the Contractors Freqs.

Sounds like someone caught Metlife using Contracted equipment. Of course YMMV

The blimp says DirecTV on it this year.

In past years I have heard the blimp talk to the director on the director's UHF frequency (see below). I haven't heard that this year but I only started listening today, and only off and on, so it's probably happened and I just haven't heard it. The director often tells the blimp what to do over UHF, and given the time sensitive nature of the information I'm sure the blimp is at least listening to the director on UHF.

My Memorial tournament list for this year:
450.225 CSQ monitor for talent
450.275 CSQ monitor for talent
450.325 CSQ broadcast audio
450.375 151.4 not sure; no longer on air as of 7pm Sunday
450.425 151.4/118.8 repeater; cameras
450.675 151.4/114.8 repeater; microphone operators "channel 3"
450.700 151.4/? repeater; spotters
450.825 CSQ monitor for talent
*450.8875* 151.4/107.2 repeater; main director channel--camera operators
450.925 broadcast audio; some other broadcast?
450.9125 data

425, 675, 700, 8875 are all repeaters with an output PL of 151.4 and a different input PL for each. 425, 675, and 8875 all have the director's hot mic. Traffic on the input to 8875 is actually heard by the director; on the other two it is not. Based on the chat that I have heard, I believe that 675 is the microphone operators, and I think that 425 is the people responsible for the camera video links (i.e., not the actual camera operators). I have no experience in the broadcast business; this is just what I've gleaned from listening to the Memorial for several years. Most of these frequencies are the same from year to year.

Wow- good stuff! I noticed the name on the blimp changed too when I got closer to it. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to listen again, but I will be sure to save this list for next year.

Thank you,

JD
