The only comment or two I would make here would be that you wouldn't want to connect a preselector directly to a whip antenna on a portable (It's mentioned in the Suggestions for MFJ section). There's usually some kind of small amp and / or matching at the base, and applying RF directly could, in some cases, swamp the receiver.
Otherwise it's a good read. Indoor active antennas must be used with some caution, as is noted here, because sometimes it can actually amplify more noise than signal. One experiment that might prove interesting is using this with a YouLoop, instead of using the whip antenna or a wire strung around a room. As you can build a YouLoop yourself, it makes for an interesting combination
