Hi all:

I will be spending a couple of days in Miami (downtown/Brickell area) and was curious what systems of interest I can program in to the scanner for some listening. Should I use the Miami Dade county or City of Miami or both or ? I'll have the 246T so no P25. Also will bring the HT, so does anyone know what ham repeaters are in the area that I can access with a 5W dual band HT?

Thanks!

Thanks for the links, was hoping to find out what repeaters might be local to the part of town I'll be staying, since I'll just have the HT. I'll listen around and see what sounds good!

Thanks again

One of the strongest HAM repeaters near the Brickell/Downtown is 146.925 w/pl 94.8. This one also has P25 but rarely used in digital.

A couple more, commonly used:
444.200 w/pl 94.8 SW 40th Street and 72 Avenue
147.150 w/pl 94.8 Coral Gables, Biltmore Hotel
146.835 w/pl 94.8 Princeton (South Dade)
442.350 w/pl 94.8 South Dade
147.760 csq University of Miami (Coral Gables)
147.000 w/pl 94.8 (negative 600hz)

There are a few more, but these are the ones I can think of now.

As for scamming, your best bet in your area is City of Miami TRS (analog). Fire dispatches from one main talkgroup, but the area you want to monitor in the downtown for police is DISP 3/ TAC 3 (Refer to this site for the proper information.

There are more frequencies and systems you can monitor; Miami Beach misc VHF and UHF, but for these Radio reference is a great source.

I hope this helps you out.
