I just posed the same question to Midland support, but want the opinions of forum members as well.
I have a pair of Midland LXT500Pa. One of the units reported low battery and refused to operate. I had been using 4 Duracell alkaline aaa batteries. This surprised me as I hadn't used the unit a lot. I checked all of the batteries with a multimeter and they all outputted 1.42 volts. Is this behavior to be expected with such a small voltage drop?
The unit is now operational with 4 new Duracell aaa batteries. These all tested at 1.6 volts.
