Within the last half hour I heard talk about a loud explosion on the scanner. One FD stated that it had shook their firehouse. They were sending out numerous calls to PD and FD and they were all trying to figure out what it was.

About 10 minutes later we heard another explosion like sound and it shook our home. My wife called 911 to report the loud explosion and the tech said it was "military maneuvering" and that several other reports had already been filed.

I figured I would have heard about it on the scanner first, but nope. Anyway if you heard the explosions and didnt know what they were, you do now.

Good find. I heard something about it on my way home but it was hard to follow without a trunking scanner.

We live near Grissom Air Force Base and often hear sonic booms. These occur when the plane breaks the sound barrier. They often rattle the windows. When I was in the Navy it was illegal for Navy planes to do this over land but I guess the Air Force goes by different rules.
