I saw a MOF truck today on the way to T.O.
At first I thought it was a MTO enforcement truck, but their colours have more green in them, the MOF truck had more blue.

I did not notice any antenna on it, doesnt mean it doesnt have one but I was wondering if any knew if they used a radio system or gone blackberry.

Also, why have a truck for this ministry with enforcement, it brings to mind "Cops" but only corporate cops, guys in suits on King St being chased... :)

I guess they have trucks for when they raid offices and have to haul out boxes and boxes of documents before they get shredded...lol...

I've seen those trucks too, pick up truck with a cap on it. I've also seen white mini vans with the Ontario logo on it, but no other writing or antenna on it. I wonder who they are ?

These are the Enforcement guys. They handle other things other than office raids, lol . Such as unstamped tobacco fines and seizures of vehicles, houses and such. They arent that uncommon in eastern Ontario. Ive asked about frequencies before with no luck.

I used to hear them in the 151 mhz range a few years back when I used to drive my wife to her work in Oshawa. She worked right beside them - Comms were quite boring though.

The Ministry of Finance enforcement vehicles you see on the road are used to nail Truckers running down the road burning dyed or farm grade diesel as it is cheaper due to no road tax.

Thats fascinating.
I have never notcied a MOF truck pull anyone over.
I wonder how many trucks they do pull over, as many as the MTO Enforcement do on fleetnet?

Still it would have been more fun imagining the suits being chased, typing on their balackberries, handling their lattes as they run from the fuzz...

Bad boys bad boys

I live right beside the Peace Bridge in Fort Eire Ontario and they wait on the side of the road for transport trucks to clear and as soon as one gets on the highway they pull the truck over, they check there loads and check the gas in the trucks also. I have had Close Call On my 396 set up but have not caught the frequency as of yet.

Quite a few of the vehicles with just the Ontario logo on them are Ministry of Labour... trust me, they show up at all industrial accidents. :)

Those white Ontario vans are generic. They use more than just the vans - they also use cars, and some are unmarked. However, they all have a "beehive" validation sticker, and the license plates start with 0NA, 0NB, etc... (that's zero, not the letter O). They're basically any vehicle owned/operated by the Provincial Government. I've seen the Coroner, Ontario Fire Marshal, Sheriff, Ministry of Labour, and quite a few others driving them.

That's something I've wondered about...what does the Sheriff do ?

Then it must be a leased vehicle. OPP vehicles for example, aren't owned by the Province, rather they are leased. According to one of their Fleet Services people (whom is a close friend of mine), any plate starting with 0N? are actually owned by the gov't - all others are either leased or aren't owned directly by the province and could be owned by an individual department within a Ministry.

If you rent, try not paying for a few months...you'll find out what they do :p

Sheriffs basically enforce court orders. So if you get evicted, they're the ones who come and remove you. If the court has ordered something seized from a property, they go and do that.

We have Gov't owned and leased vans. AFAIK all the plates start with "A". A previous van had a plate starting with "0N". There may not be any clear pattern as to which vehicles get "0N" plates and which get "regular" plates. They all have the "beehive" validation stickers that don't expire.

You'll find fewer and fewer the vast majority of Ontario government vehicles are now leased.
