I am having trouble finding a user guide for the Minitor III.

I searched Moto's website with no results.

I need to know how to fileld program the ABCD switch, if it is possible.

I have attempted to email my vendor to see how he programmed the switch, but have not heard back.

So far, I have determined that C position scans both channels, and D is the priority channel only. I need to know what A and B do; which one is tone alert, and which one is vibe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the book....

The book that comes WITH a Minitor III is at this link - It's in PDF format....
http://www.mepin.com/MINITOR III MAN.pdf
But, I don't think that awitch is USER programable....However, A & B should be set up to activate only when you RX a page. I think A is beep and B is vibrate on most setups, but, the sight I attached above goes through all that....

I dont think you can field program the knob on the minitors ... but funny story, on the IV i use to have, if you turned the knob to C and held down the squelch button and then turned it on, and the when it beeped you hit the the button either once or twice, it would just stay on vibrate ... we used to have minitor IV races across the kitchen table at the station .. good times ... haha

I think I figured this one out.

A is beep alert

B is vibrate alert

C is priority scan monitor

D is F1 monitor.

Now, just have to wait for a call to see if it activates.

That pretty much is how the one I have works. I only have a single freq set up in mine....

Our radio guys can set them up to do a bunch of things, but, what you described is pretty standard, I think....AND, every time they've done something with them, they have to hook them up to a laptop....

My unit is indeed set up as I described.

I asked to have it programmed as I described, but I didn't know how he assigned each option.

Three calls this evening activated both tone sets, so everything works like it should.

Thanks again, Steve, for the manual.

From personal experience... Don't mess with the squelch+power while on c thing... I have actually destroyed a couple fire pagers doing that. I don't know if it is supposed to or not, but it seems that whenever it happens, it will still do the open audio, but not tone out. I have never been able to figure out how to fix it, so I try my hardest to not do it!!

If anyone has insight into how to maybe fix one, without the computer, please feel free to say something!

If it helps... in mine:
A=On duty beep
B=Off duty beep
C=On duty scan
D=On duty Vibrate

I assume that the III is closely similar to the IV, they both use the same software to program. The programmer can set the ABCD functions to anything his heart desires. That beeping noise heard while powering up on C and holding down the reset button is putting the pager in to programing mode to be accessed by the software. I'm not sure how much damage it does (or if any) but it is fun to have it vibrate like that. At my station each guy has his custom set up. Mine is:

A - Beep Alert
B - Vibrate Alert WITH NO AUDIO
C - Monitor F1
D - Monitor F2 (Tac Ch.)

When i first got it, i was so excited that i could make it vibrate and keep it on while at work. It wasn't until the first call with that setting i realized that even with it set to vibrate, it still plays the audio through afterwards... not good when in meetings with the boss. The stored voice is great for playing back the call later or for doing run reports.
