• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Can a minitor v auto reset it self? your pager goes off the red light is on and normally the channel stays in monitor mode until you turn the pager off and back on. But can it auto rest so the channel goes close after opening for a call and not staying in monitor mode?

Don't you mean that the pager stays in Monitor mode until you push the little rubber reset button? There's no need to turn the radio off and back on if it is properly programmed.

FWIW, on SV models, turning the pager off also clears the SV memory. Not necessarily a bad thing, but users need to be aware of how the feature works.

#1 is Auto

Reset Function
This field sets the method to reset the audio.

1. Auto RESET: Resets the audio when carrier drops.
2. Delay N sec Auto Reset: Waits N seconds before checking carrier drop.
3. Revert SQ: Reverts to Monitor Mode after receiving a SelCall page.
4. Manual RESET: Resets the audio only when the Reset Switch is depressed.
5. Time-out RESET: Resets after a selected amount of time only.
6. Delay AUTO_N with Revert: Wait N seconds and then behave as monitor mode until the reset button is pushed.

Just so the OP (and others) understand, Auto Reset may be counter productive if dispatch drops carrier for too long between the tones and the voice message. And, it is even more of a problem with Stored Voice as it will essentially defeat SV if there is any carrier drop between the tones and voice.

I usually set them up with delayed n auto reset at 9.6 sec I think is the closest to 10 sec.

I go a little longer than that and here's why. All of our FD's in our county have two two-tone pairs for dispatch which eats up at least 8 seconds of air time. If the dispatcher blows the EMS tones on the the EMS channel first and then the fire tones on the fire channel, that is at least 8 seconds of carrier drop on the EMS side. Add in a second or two for dispatcher drop and the 9.6 may not be enough to keep the SV going on the EMS side. If dispatch sends out the fire tones first and then the EMS tones, the time gap is much smaller for the fire pagers and nothing gets missed.

For non-SV pagers, this is important for the Delayed N choice. SV pagers would utilize the Revert N reset. I've had good results with the 10.56 second setting so far.

Now, if your dispatch does it all on one channel, the time may not be so critical. And if all the tones are single pairs instead of a chain of two or more pairs, again it may not matter so much, even in multi-channel dispatch.

That sounds about the timeframe I have mine set to. But we don't have issues with waiting for other channels to worry about the stacked pages getting missed or any other errors. We're all dispatched on the same channel so very rarely will something be missed. Might not be ideal everywhere but it works great for me.
