MMDVM radio

I have a couple Motorola Maxtracs that I want to connect a mmdvm so I can have a higher power hotspot vs having something that’s 10mw. Any mods needed to the maxtrac? I’ve seen a few things online of this but can I not just get a mmdvm board and a pi zero because I see people having a pi and Arduino with the mmdvm voard

I’m confused as to what exactly you’re asking. To use a radio transceiver as a hotspot’s RF section, you need a modem (the previously mentioned STM32-DVM for example) and a host computer running MMDVMHost (such as a Raspberry Pi). You then connect these to the radio, adjust settings to fit your gear, and go.

Not a Motorola user so I can’t speak to your particular transceiver, but that’s the Cliff notes.
