Up until August first or so I could receive Fire, EMT, and the Sheriff within Mobile county, now there is zilch. No fire, no EMTs, no State Troopers no nothing. I've notice RR upgraded several local businesses to DMR and NXDN, but so far no one has reported the county has encrypted all public service transmissions.

I have two scanners a TRX-1 and a 536 modded to receive DMR and NXDN both have been scanning 764-797mHz for three days straight but not a single hit on either scanner anyone know what's happening in Mobile county Alabama. The MPD and hospitals went encrypted years ago but everything else has been in the clear up until August.

To repeat my question does anyone actually know what is going on in Mobile? Have agencies encrypted? Have they migrated to other frequencies? Have they switched to something other than P25? What is going on?

mobile fire is not encrypted i just heard them on the feed .
only other suggestion is they might have changed control channels .
i dont think its a simulcast site if it was then scanners are bad for simulcast .
you might have something like control channel mode off .

From the database, it's a Harris P25 system and any channel can be the control channel. Make sure all frequencies are programmed in.

Police, Sheriif, and it looks like everything except fire dispatch is encrypted for the city FD.

All frequencies are programmed in I've been listening to Mobile since 1978. The last major change in frequencies was or about 01/01/2019 haven't had a problem receiving them till about two weeks ago.

New 800 MHz Tower Site.
It is at the same location and it has the same coordinates as the Mount Vernon 700 Site.
WRMT222 - Mobile County Communications District

Site Location:
Mount Vernon, AL
Washington County

Site Frequencies:
854.28750
854.58750
854.71250
856.38750
856.93750
857.06250
857.26250

Anyone close to this New 800 MHz Tower Site may want to check it for activity.
It looks like this New 800 Site will be Phase II/2, it appears to have P2 Emissions.
A Notification of Construction has not posted yet on this Site so it's unsure if it's On-the-Air yet or not.
Please Post any Tower Site info found here or Submit an update to RR.

well you got me then cause the co/ city fire is transmitting on the freqs listed .
its possible that you might have antenna issues .
do you have all the freqs for the 4 sites programed ?
have you tried driving around with the radio to see if you can hear anything

Also, are you picking up a control channel for the system?

One thing to try is to see if you can pick up the National Weather Service frequency for Mobile NWX. I use the NWS frequencies to test out the reception on scanners and two way radios.

To me, since you can't pick up the State Troopers, which are on VHF, it almost sounds like you've got a problem with the scanner, antenna connector or antenna.

I pick up ham repeaters in Mobile, Baldwin counties and some in Mississippi, WX frequency, airports in Mobile and Baldwin counties.

I am picking up a control channel that's a good question I am not sure. How can I check?

I've entered Discovery format with frequency limits 769-775, and let it run 48 hours I got 6 hits but each was of 0 seconds duration and of course no audio. I've tried 2 different antennas, formatted the SD card.. Reloaded the channels still nothing. This is on both a BCD536HP and a TRX-1? I've gone portable with the TRX, I drove up the road about 2 miles and was within spitting distance of the broadcast site. Still nothing.

Is there anything else I should try?

have you entered all the freqs on the site cloest to you .
looks like some new info on the mount veron site in the database .
all these freqs must be entered cause its a harris system .
does the scanners have what is known as control channel mode on. keep in mind this system runs law 100 percent encrp.
if that does not help .
then you have a bad scanner . have you tried a master reset on the scanners .
does the scanners support phase 2 .
are the tags turned on in the 536 hp .
its also possible fire might have went encrypted. and since i think the feed is comming from the 911 center they are the only one that can send the signal to the feed .

Hello All.
This might be a dumb question but has anyone checked the Mobile County AIRS Sites/Frequencies
to see is any Mobile County agencies are operating on any of those Sites.
All of those Sites are licensed to the State of Alabama under License WPTZ783.
I am not sure if those AIRS Sites are still active or not or who is using them.
You may also want to check the New 800 Site for Mount Vernon that I posted above for activity.

its either 1 of 3 things .
1 bad antenna or bad scanner
2 control channel mode is not on.
3 fire has went encrypted .

i dont think mobile is on the state system . they own a harris system.
wait a second this might be the issue here.
The Mobile County Alabama 911 (MCCD) P25 system is being installed. It will have eight simulcast sites and three multicast sites .
if thats the case them 2 scanners are very bad with simulcast sites .

i guess the poster could try this

but what has me concered is that he did not get anything while searching in the range he stated. even with the control channel mode off he would have gotten hits on the control channel would not pass traffic though .

also as of right now no scanner with accpect a phase 2 tdma contol channel .
also i guess he could try to contact the feed provider of saraland feed and ask for info .

I've checked AIRS and MCTS no joy on both, Mount Vernon is too far away from me.

1. While its possible the scanner or antenna is bad lets assume both are good for the moment since I receive other services well: military and civilian aircraft, ham, state troopers, etc.

2. Control Channel mode is not on, I'm using 536HP how do I check to see that the control channel mode is on? I'm checked the handbook and easy read docs but haven't found any reference to turning CCmode on or off.

3. Encrypted?? Very possible since I could monitor Fire, Sheriff and some EMT back about mid July went out of town came back a few weeks later and zilch...

Any idea on how to contact feed provider?

well police and sheriff have beem encrypted for over a couple of years in mobile and baldwin counties .
its possible that you might have heard something from florida and assumed it was mobile . if your not getting nothing searching for freqs something is up with the scanner .
try

also sytem is not a motorla systems its harris so it might need to be programed as edacs .

for contacting the feed provider there should be a link on the feed page to contact them

if all elses fails call uniden customer support and ask them how to program a harris system .

you might have to buy the edacs/ provoice upgrade.

1-800-297-1023Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM CST

cause right now i dont know what else to tell you my friend.

phase 2 tmda is a control channel of a phase 2 system .
