I can't see 700Mhz. becoming a big issue in Colorado. The agencies currently on the State DTRS have spent their money for their current set-up. At the very minimum, I would say we wouldn't lose the agencies that we can monitor now.
Noticed that your profile on the left shows you in Parker. Douglas County has stated that they will be going to 700 MHz.
Agencies with XTS5000 or Astro Spectra+ radios have 700 capability allready. In fact any agencies that have moved to DTRS in the past year are most likely to have 700 capability. In my area Weld County Ambulance carry 5K's.
Smoky Hill, Greenwood and "DTB" (Glendale/S. Colorado blvd) have 700 MHz channels on the air allready. While no sites have 700 control channels at this time it is a possibility in the future.
Something else to consider if and when the 800 MHz restructuring begins in this region it will be a lot easier to have 700 MHz channels allready in place on the current sites while the 800 side is being retuned.
700 MHz use is a reality here. Sorry the pro-2096 is obosolete right out of the box for anyone considering it for long term use.
