I have not been hearing much of anything out of MODOT on their listed frequencies anymore. They show a standard trunked radio system from what I can tell on RR. However, along about the time I stopped hearing them I found a "case study" by Zetron Corporation where they overhauled the MODOT radio system and it appears to have a lot of ip based control points now. (See https://www.zetron.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/005-7720.pdf ). Does anyone know if there is a new P25, etc. system they are using now? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I wonder why they did not get on the already existing MOSWIN System.

Interesting question. I know they built towers all over the state in the late 1960's so it was already in place. Overall cost should be less using MOSWIN long term (I would think).

Just a guess here, but I think the Zetron equipment is probably replacing the stand alone tone-remote or DC-remote control equipment at the district offices with equipment that integrates those functions into a desktop computer.

I did a quick listen last night during the snow and heard Modot on the same frequencies they were on a few years when this topic came up.

Here is a list of the VHF frequencies that Modot is licensed for. The repeaters are all in the 151-152 MHz range, but the truck-to-truck simplex traffic can be heard on anything. Even frequencies that are used for repeater input in one district may be used for simplex in another district.

151.04000
151.07000
151.10000
151.11500
151.13000
151.38500
156.01500
156.04500
156.13500
159.01500
