SDS100/SDS200: Monitoring A Hytera XPT System With A Uniden SDS100

A place near me recently went from a single UHF analog repeater to digital.

I checked the FCC website and the original frequency is still licensed and they now have an additional repeater listed on there.

I monitored it a little bit when I was close by recently.

The Uniden SDS100 shows it to be a Hytera XPT system.

I found the Color Code on the "new" frequency.

I have monitored two talk groups in use, but there may be more.

I have monitored Hytera XPT in the past, but it has been some time.

I have no idea what the correct LCN is.

I have it programmed right now as a two channel MotoTRBO trunked system with ID Search on.

I still don't know if the "old" frequency is actually in use, but I suspect that it is.

Is the Color Code for it likely to be the same as the other frequency or could it be different?

How worthwhile is it to determine the correct LCN for this system?

You can set the color code to search as opposed to defining it when programming. Sometimes freqs on a site can have color code and sometimes they’re different. You only need color code if another agency is using the same freq.

I have had success configuring XPT systems on my SDS scanners as MotoTRBO Trunk with LCNs set to 0. The example XPT system I am monitoring (see below) has four frequencies, so I setup my SDS with four sites (Verona-1, Verona-2, etc.). The Department is named 'All' and the TGs are saved there. This configuration works quite well.

I have a XPT system here in North Carolina. When I ran the LCN finder on my Uniden 436, I found that different frequencies would show up with a LCN of 1. What I did was to create a 5 site system with a single frequency in each for the 5 different frequencies in the system. For each of the 5 sites, I used a LCN of 1 and it appears to track successfully.

Out of interest, I switched the LCNs for the Casino mentioned in post #3 from 0 to 1. No difference. The scanner works fine cycling through the four casino frequencies. I wonder if the SDS scanners simply ignore the LCN for Hytera XPT systems?
