Does anyone know if Monsanto is running their DMR system as a multi-frequency Capacity Plus system? I've been monitoring DMR voice traffic on the Creve Coeur site, frequencies 462.300, 462.325, and 462.375.
Most of the traffic is on 462.300, but some occasionally pops up on the other two frequencies. I've created a Capacity Plus (MotoTRBO Trunking) system with those 3 frequencies, using the FCC callsign (KWX310) channel numbers as the LCN assignments.
So far I've only been able to find one LCN using the Analyze function, that being 462.300.
Is it possible that they have all eight channels at the Creve Coeur set up as single channel DMR trunked? The channels are grouped by the antenna they're assigned to, so that led to my assumption that they were trunked together.
Anybody else snooping DMR with the Uniden beta firmware?
I found some time to play with this a bit more.
The first thing I learned is that the latest Uniden DMR Beta 2 really degrades my capacity+ reception.
So I went back to the first DMT beta and that brought back CAP+ reception fairly well.
Don't go by the antenna ID, use the Location ID instead and put in all the frequencies for the location you are after.
I learned they have a link between Creve Coeur and Chesterfield sites so you may want to create a TRBO trunked system for both areas.
I tried to put both locations frequencies under a single TRBO system in my 536HP but that seemed to confuse it so I ended up creating separate sites for both systems.
I also saw another Chesterfield site but I think it was mostly conventional DMR so I did not setup a TRBO system for that location.
That location also sits lower than Creve Coeur so you may not get a decent signal from the Chesterfield system. The Chesterfield transmitters show a pretty high power level though so it may make it fine across the river to your location.
You also don't need to enter a LCN when setting these up as MotoTRBO trunked sites. Just enter the frequency and then hit enter when it asks for an LCN number.
CAP+ systems don't rely upon LCN's like Connect+ systems do. Somehow the radio figures it out. I'd guess the CC spits out enough info on a CAP+ system to steer your radio to the correct frequency if needed.
If you follow the advice from N0UDG, you can setup all frequencies under a standard conventional system and set them all to Digital mode as you enter them. The ones that show up on your radio as DMR can be left out of the system when you do setup a MotoTRBO trunked system.
You only need the ones that show on the radio as CAP frequencies.
The Chesterfield site is just as active or maybe even more at times than the Creve Coeur site so I'd try that site as well and see if you can receive it. The Chesterfield site was the old Pfizer drug company until Monsanto took them over.
I live smack dab between them both but actually nearer to the Chesterfield site so I get good reception from both. Even their low power 2 watt simplex systems can be heard here at times.
Once you setup the sites as TRBO sites, you do not need to run the LCN Analyze feature as the radio will see they are CAP+ sites.
I do wish CAP+ sites control channel advertised all the possible voice channels like a true P25 site does but they don't so you do need to make sure and grab all the frequencies for each site from the FCC.
I'm finding most traffic on 462.425 tonight. Some of it is from the Creve Coeur site and some is from the Chesterfield site.
Good Luck!
