I'm looking for a really simple shortwave radio wire antenna that I could either string up outside or in my room and I came across this antenna.

Anyone ever use it? If so how is the receive and build quality? I would be using it on either a Grundig Satellit 800 or a Drake R8A.

Sorry don't have any experience with that kit but it 100% reminds me of the R/S version #278-758. (Granted, it didn't come with coax cable -- it just came with a grey lead-in wire. 75ft of 14ga copper wire, a couple of plastic insulators and a couple of ceramic insulators for the copper element. $14.95 at your local R/S. xD

I must have bought at least 5-6 of those over the '90s...

Also FWIW, RG58 is OK but RG8X is better (and cost the same) for HF frequencies. RG213 is ideal if you can swing it.

If you're in a quiet location (out in the country, away from RF) then it won't matter as much.
