Control and voice. Usually on Motorola systems the first four channels are control and voice capable. The remainder channels are voice only.

The 380 and 520 refer to the custom tables that need to be set up in the scanners.

There are two ranges.
First is
base 471.000
offset 380
step 12.5 kHz

Second is
base 476.000
offset 520
step 12.5 kHz

This is common in UHF and VHF trunked systems to require a table entry. In the case or Morris County they have frequencies in the 471 - 472 MHz range in the system as well as 476 to 479, thus requirinf two sets of entries.

FYI, I haven't heard any activity on the systems when I am listening in the evening. I do not think there are any units on the system yet.

None of the towns do at all. Still on 39.02 and 46.02

Anyone have any update on when this system will finally go live? I've seen the UHF antennas on the Sheriff and Park Police vehicles so it looks like the radios are installed, bit I've heard nothing on my BC296D - no talkgroup activity in ID Search mode.

I heard radio technicians doing test counts on the following talkgroups this afternoon:

32784
32880

Both were in P25 Astro digital.

This is the first voice activity I have heard on Morris County's trunked system!

Hearing activity on talkgroup 32784 today. Cars calling dispatch (referred to as COMM 2) running license plate checks, etc.

Haven't figured out what agency but I would assume it's the Sheriff's Department since they're supposed to be the first on the system.

I can hear it very well here in Branchburg. And, I'm using the RS high-gain 800 MHz rubber duck as well.

I guess it's a good half-wavelength on UHF. The audio is clear and loud.

It's not the Sheriff's department, it's the Morris County Park Police is using talkgroup 32784 on the county's new trunked system. Dispatch is being referred to as COMM-2. Cars are 91xx series. All communications are in P25 Astro Digital, no encryption.

Talkgroup 33072 is channel 4.

No, you cannot. It's got to be digital scanner. As of right now, Morris is 100% ASTRO 24-7.

I'm impressed with the system - on the nightstand in my bedroom down here in Branchburg, I get Zone 1's CC at 99% strength with just the '96 and a BNC duck.

Thanks!

There isn't much that goes on in Morris County to warrant a $600.00 in new equipment.
