• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I was wondering if I can transmit and receive on my HR1000 they all say no but i just wanted to get the expert advice if I can buy something cheaper then these radios or a program that will allow me to use their encryption? Drop a reply here or on my email if anyone doesnt mind jpedota805@gmail.com thank-you.

What band is your agency on and what band is the other radio? UHF, VHF, or 800 MHz?

I forgot to mention they are using the xpr 6500 and as far as the band I'm uncertain but I was told they are using a digital encryption and looking to trunk as I was told. The owner of the radio command is trying to avoid "hacking" but I don't know the specific details all I was told is that I won't be able to operate my ht1000 due to it being digital encryption.. its not much info sorry but they won't tell me because he is the only one who is doing the programming...

All I was told it they are using digital encryption and the XPR 6500. I believe they are in 800mhz and my ht1000 is UHF. But as far as another bit of info they won't tell me because the owner is the only one allowed to program the radios... he pretty much sells the radios and does the programming but they really weren't looking out for those of us who don't have 800 bucks to blow on a radio..

Sounds like they are using a MotoTRBO system. So they are correct in saying your HT1000 wont work on that system. You need a radio like theirs to be able to talk on that system.

The XPR 6500 is a MOTOTRBO portable that operates in either the VHF 136-174 or UHF 403-512 bands. Your HT1000 is utterly useless on a MOTOTRBO system for a number of reasons. In addition, purchasing your own XPR 6500 won't get you access to the system, you'll need the radio programmed by the system administrator.
