I have a Motorola alert monitor set up for 162.550 with a 1050Hz tone board installed. Bought it a couple of years back and has been working fine. Last Wed when Indianapolis NWS set off the weds am test the receiver did not activate. Monitor switch was in the alert mode. Receives 162.550 when put in monitor mode. Does anyone know where I can get this receiver fixed. I want to keep it. Willing to pay to have it fixed right. Looking for someone in the local Indianapolis ,Indiana area or( someone that can refer me to someone that would repair that unit) outside my local area of Indianapolis. Please send me a IM, e-mail or post in the forum where I can get this repaired. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by Motorola Monitor since you did not list a model number. However if it is a MInitor series pager i would try G&G communications in new york state. Gerry Oliver is a whiz with the Minitor Pager series. If it is a Motorola older home alert base radio he may be able to help but not sure.

I just called Gerry and it is a Motorola older home alert, he said it might be a tone board or a relay. Thinking about sending the unit to him for repair.

Unless out have a reason to stay with that specific radio, it would cost about the same, or less, to buy a new weather radio.

Thanks krokus and Steve CO625, I have over 30 SAME radios but I wanted to keep the Motorola MO3. Great audio and use it in the Comm Center.

I fully agree. I have a pair of L03's (the red plastic case version) here that I am going to re-crystal and set up for our county's fire and ems dispatch frequencies. We're not leaving analog high band, at least for the forseeable future. The funding just is not there.

The audio quality and reception on these radios is superb. Back in Rochester, the techs hooked up L03's to outside antennas and connected them direct into our dispatch consoles for the local frequencies that we monitored 24/7. It worked very, very well, and at a fraction of the cost of other gear.

Bob Wallace is not gone, I just used him a few weeks ago, he did a great job on my Plectron, also been dealing with Gerry recently, fantastic resource for older Motorola products.

Wolfe Communications told me no they would not "repair" my Motorola mo3. Woman who answered the phone acted like she did have time to talk to me. I talked to Gerry at G&G. very nice and will send the unit to him for repair, I have bought items from Gerry in the past.

Thanks for the feedback. I have no stake in this, I just looked up alert monitor repairs and Wolfe came back as a top hit.

I will drop them from my notes. Funny how word spreads when folks get treated poorly by vendors and repair shops.
