The radio was Installed in the unit back in sept of this year. The radio has VHF,UHF1.UHF2,700,800 MHZ.
The Enabled band at this time is 700/800 Mhz.

All 7x00 radios were required to be ordered with two bands selected. You didn't have to pay to have them both enabled, but you had to specify both, as the RF boards in the 7x00 series were paired up; there was no RF board that only had hardware for a single band. There were 6 possible combinations:
VHF/UHF1
VHF/UHF2
VHF/700/800
UHF1/UHF2
UHF1/700/800
UHF2/800/800
In order to enable the second band, you need GA00579 Enable Dual Band Operation. Whether or not you can legally obtain a flash upgrade for that, you'll have to contact a dealer or MSI or whomever.
Uhhh...that would be an 8500, my guy. The 7500 were only capable of two bands at a time. The radio was Installed in the unit back in sept of this year. The radio has VHF,UHF1.UHF2,700,800 MHZ.
The Enabled band at this time is 700/800 Mhz. I was told that Motorola tech says it has VHF RF board, so to enable second band GA00579 Enable Dual Band Operation would need to be obtained?
For starters, the 7x00 series came out a few years before the 6x00 series, and so it was the only APX available for a while. Agencies that wanted to upgrade from the ASTRO 25 series (XTL/XTS) but didn't need dual-band capability could order the 7x00 with only one of the band enabled to save some money. I don't recall how much it costs back in 2009/2010 when the 7x00 was released, but the current list price for GA/QA00579 is $1,150 (probably down to around $800 or so with state contract/discount pricing). Why would anyone buy a 7000 series with only one band enabled? That makes no sense.
Ohhh that makes total sense, I was not aware the 6000 came out after the 7000. Do the math...if ordering hundreds of them, that adds up very quickly. Same reason why some agencies order the 8x00 without every band enabled.
Uh...no, you've got that backwards. My dept has few of each radio. 7000 have only one band and 6000 have 2.
