• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

APX Motorola APX 8000R and bluetooth microphone

I was issued a Motorola APX 8000R to replace a APX 6000. I also own a Motorola PMMN4095A Bluetooth microphone that I used with the APX 6000. It always worked flawlessly on the 6000. I cannot get it to pair with the 8000R. Some other devices will pair, or attempt to pair. I downloaded the APS software and updated the firmware and confirmed that no devices were in the microphone’s list of devices. I tried the same microphone on another 8000R and it would not pair to that radio either. It is listed as being compatible with the APX 8000, but nothing I’ve seen specifically mentions the 8000R. I’ve read other posts about this microphone and the APX 8000, those solutions haven’t worked for me unless I missed one. Also, my agency’s radio shop won’t support any microphone issues.

Do you have the CPS, and are you able to look under Radio Wide, Bluetooth, Bluetooth Paring Type set to LF MPP and Standard.

Why would the sysadmin not allow BT? If a user came to me with a reasonable request, I would be more than happy to oblige. And probably make that change systemwide on the next update.

Because we don't want to have to supply BT accessories. As soon as one person has something new and cool and shiny, more people are going to want it.

For us it is also yet another codeplug variant of which we have to keep track of in my Radio Shop.
We have too many as it is.
THIS!! We just started implementing a new model which means a new CPS and new code plugs. We have two radio shops and several folks that are knowledgeable in programming so there's be MANY new versions and keeping them straight is a nightmare. We're stuck with an archaic system though so everything is still done the old fashioned way...

Or perhaps that new 8000R didn't get the "QA00583 Enable Bluetooth Operation" in its flash code?

You have absolutely no business doing a firmware update on a radio that was issued to you. DON'T DO THAT!!!!

Since there are always "issues" with one firmware version or another, it could be very possible that the agency wants to carefully control
the firmware level of every radio so as to not have one that's running a different firmware level than all the rest, and causing problems.

In some departments, attempting to alter your issued radio's programmed contents is an automatic termination offense.
At the very least it's exactly why some agencies put a programming password on the radios....TO KEEP YOU OUT!!!

He said he downloaded APS software, updated firmware, and verified the mic wasnt paired to anything.

he also said he owned the bt mic

So, while you have a very valid general point, its actually wrong in this case.

That being said, whomever said "department radio, department problem" was correct.
If his prior issued radio worked with the BT mic, then barring a new policy on accessories, this is something for the radio to either fix (check that the correct settings are enabled) or deny (radio isnt BT enabled/policy prohibits it/etc)
