• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a fairly brand new motorla NI-CD battery and when I drop it in the rapid charger, the light turns from red to green in 30 minutes. The battery life is some what reasonable but it is shorter than my other batteries. DO I need a new battery or is my battery slowly dying?
The low battery indicator is on when I transmit on the radio, and that is when I drop it in the charger..
The radio that I use is the CP200.
Any ideas?

Well, the rapid charger is doing what it's supposed to. Unfortunately, Ni-Cd batteries have a memory, and rapid chargers only try to pump juice, so to speak, into the pack. It's not healthy for the battery, so yes, it's dying.

When you say fairly brand new, was it purchased as new recently or purchased as new old stock (NOS)? If it's actually pretty old, then it may not be able to hold much of a charge.

If You Need a New Battery i Use this Company

W&W Associates.....Bethpage N.Y

www.w&w associates.com.......(AKA) Broadway Batteries

Another way to get the Memory out of the Battery is to put a 12 Volt 194 Car Marker Lite Bulb on it till the Lite is Completely Dead (off) Then put Back into the Charger

If the Problem Still Persists...Get a New Battery...That 1 is a Done Deal

GOOD LUCK

Its possible you have a bad cell in your battery.
Causes the charger to read the right voltage and think its fully charged.
When you key up your drawing current and if you have a dead cell the voltage drops dramatically since one of the cells cant produce any current.
When you have no heavy drain on the battery voltage goes back up. So in stand by mode or RX mode its got closer to normal voltage.
Thats my thought..
