If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, I recently purchased a UHF CDR700 repeater, wanted to know how to program each radio for its proper function. I see that the top radio is listed as the RX and bottom as TX.
on the Conventional personality screen for the RX Radio am i supposed to program only where it says RX or TX or Both?
for RX (example) i want to use on the repeater itself the RX of 444.XXXX, in the Conventional personality screen do i put that on the RX section or TX or Both?
for the TX Radio i want to use 449.XXXX do i put that into the RX,TX or Both?
Can i use a Combination of TPLD/DPL for tx/rx?
repeater came with a Rick Controller, how can i usae that for Remote Knock Down and Setup via DTMF radio?

All and any help will be gladly appreciated..

Ideally you would program them both identically. It's not unheard of for the RF stage to fail on these since they are really not designed for the high usage that most amateurs put them through. If they are programmed identically it makes it really easy to swap the RX radio out for the TX radio when it fails.

For both radios:
Program 444.xxxx into the RX
Program 449.xxxx into the TX
Do the same with the PL/DPL tones.

The radio will only let you set up PL ~or~ DPL, not both for TX or both for RX. You can program in a DPL on RX and a PL on TX or vice/versa.

Not sure about the RICK controller, someone else would need to answer that.

Consider adding a fan to help with air circulation on these. Also, turning down the power is usually helpful for their lifespan. If you need more power, consider an external amplifier.

Another question, I have a Henry Amplifier 20-30 watts in 100-125 out, if I want to connect this amp to this unit can I do so by dropping the wattage of the TX Radio or will have to get a Duplexer that's capable of handling 100 + watts?

Depends on if the amplifier will pass the RX signal back to the repeater. Not all of them will.

The 800MHz system I run has low power repeaters with external RF amplifiers. The TX path is separate all the way to the antenna. The RX side is separate all the way down from the antenna.

You should be able to set these radios to low power (if they are the 40 watt version) and it should land in that 20-30 watt range, unless someone messed with it. That should work fine.
