• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a Astro Motorola Consolette. is there any way to turn this thing off with out having to unplug it? I have checked in the CPS, as far as I can tell I can not. The radio button will not turn the unit off. Also is there any way to wire it so I can just run a 12v power supply to is instead of going threw the 110v power supply?

Why would you want to turn a consolette off?

A consolette is literally a box containing a power supply, interface board, optional control head and mobile radio brick.

Surprised no senior M folks have chimed in.
This is common knowledge.

1. Unplug unit.
2. Open case.
3. Find DIP switch S101 on the Audio Interface Board (AIB).
4. Slide S101-1 to "off" (or 0).
5. Re-install case.
6. Toggle power button in front as needed.

Thank you all for the help. Now to just get a switch for the AC power supply so I can turn that off and on.

Already changed the dip switch setting and unit turns on and off as it should good so far. I do not need the fan running while the unit is off in the power supply. Unless I am missing something from reading page 30 and on.

Post #10 didn't show up on my page, didn't know you already had your unique situation resolved, apologies!

My ISP has recently been falling back to RFC 2549 due to outages in the area, it's been fun.

Start reading on page 30. It addresses exactly what @Project25_MASTR questioned, and exactly what @Lucifer_Morningstar described.

As @captaincab stated, the consolettes were designed for 24/7 operations thus, you wouldn't ever need to turn them off. Also per linked service manual, the DIP switches just allow for the control head to be turned on and off (the radio will continue to operate headless).
